ATLANTA — A major on-ramp to Interstate 85 was shut down at the height of the evening rush hour on Friday, and it could close throughout the weekend as well.
The Buford Spring Connector Northbound ramp to I-85 Northbound was closed due to cracks on the bridge that are being inspected, Triple Team Traffic says.
Georgia Department of Transportation confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that “settlement in a portion of the road was identified due to surface drainage issues.”

NewsChopper 2 flew over the scene and showed orange cones blocking off the on-ramp as inspectors walked along the ramp to make sure it was safe to reopen.
GDOT reopened one lane Friday evening but said there will likely be full closures of the on-ramp throughout the weekend.
Some drivers spoke to Channel 2’s Eryn Rogers. They said they plan to avoid the area.
“Now, I know I most definitely won’t travel that route…You just think how many people travel that interstate daily, and it’s not nice if anything happens,” said driver, Jerome McKay.
Officials are asking drivers to take Cheshire Bridge Road to get on I-85 NB or take I-75/85/NB to I-85 NB.
